Privacy Policy

Carter and Company Respects Your Privacy!  We respect the fact that your privacy is very important to you.  You have trusted us with your insurance needs for over 70 years, and it is important to us to maintain a high degree of integrity.  Therefore, Carter and Company, LLP does not sell or disclose your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.  In addition, we hold our employees to strict guidelines when collecting and/or reviewing your personal information.   Below, we discuss specific issues that may be of concern to you and your family.   If you have additional questions after reviewing this policy, please contact us at the addresses provided at the end of this privacy policy statement.

Information We Collect

We collect certain information ("nonpublic personal information") about you and the members of your household ("you") from the following sources:

Informatiom we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your social security number, assets, income and property information
If you have recently completed an application, your name will remain in our quotation system database for at least 90 days. 

Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others, such as your policy coverage, premiums and payment history
If you have shown interest in obtaining a quote in the past you may receive a courtesy reminder when your current policy approaches the renewal date. 

Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency or insurance support organization, such as motor vehicle records, credit report information and claims history When you have asked for a rate quotation, we may request  credit information in accordance with applicable state law.  Agency employees will not have access to the details of your credit information.  When we request credit information, the inquiry will be reflected in your personal credit file maintained by credit reporting agencies.

Information We Disclose

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you, as our customer or former customer, except as described by this notice.

When you complete a request for an on-line policy quote, the information is collected to help us offer you proper coverage and that information may be disclosed.  Your information is also used to determine if you qualify for any of our many discounts.    If you apply for a quote for certain policies from us, you give us permission to confirm your motor vehicle record, financial responsibility, and claims history.  We are permitted to disclose personal health information (1) to process your transaction with us, for instance, to determine eligibility for coverage, to process claims or to prevent fraud; 2) with your written authorization, and (3) otherwise as permitted by law.

Security

Carter and Company may in the future place a small text file called a "cookie" on your hard drive to remember certain information.  This information will not be shared with anyone outside of Carter and Company, LLP.  If you do not wish to receive information via E-mail, you may opt out by providing your name and, if you are a policyholder, your policy number when selecting the following E-mail link:
